Manningham City Council North East Link Response

Completed: 2019

Client: Manningham City Council

The Bulleen Park Master Plan was commissioned by Manningham City Council in April 2019 in response to the imminent construction of North East Link (NEL).  The NEL will create the need for a new entrance to Bulleen Park and require the re-purposing of oval one for new road infrastructure.

With a variety of  community club tenants in occupation at the Reserve including AFL, Soccer, Archery, Cricket and Aeromodellers, it was evident that a number of tenants would be required to adjust operations or relocate from the park.

With the Manningham City community the key focus, Council adopted the principal in the event any community member were to be impacted by the NEL construction they were to receive, as a minimum, “like for like” facilities in return.

Working in partnership with Council, insideEDGE delivered a number of Master Plans and sport strategies for various locations in the municipality, applying best practice sport guidelines and delivering within the tight timeframes required.

  • Delivery of 4 master plans and 3 sport strategies in 6 months
  • The Victorian Minister for Planning released his assessment of the NEL’s Environmental Effects Statement in December 2019. The Minister considered recommendations from an independent committee appointed to review the EES, with outcomes aligned directly with the work undertaken by insideEDGE.
