The National Golf Facilities Plan was established to provide a structure for the future planning and development of golf facilities across the country.  The Plan is designed to assist in the delivery of a consistent approach to the sustainability and viability of golf facilities.

Golf Australia’s priority is to ensure there is a clear vision and direction for golf facility improvements and future investment is made in the right projects in the right locations.   The aim is to lead national facilities planning and guide state and regional projects that deliver a sufficient number of well located, welcoming and accessible golf facilities that support the growth and sustainability of the game.

insideEDGE is assisting Golf Australia to deliver a ‘full set’ of facility planning tools and resources designed to assist clubs, venues, local councils and facility operators and owners in the planning of golf facility projects.

Useful resources will include a facility planning framework, a hierarchy of golf facilities with defined programs and service levels, facility development guidelines and a national audit of existing golf facilities.

The national audit of golf facilities was identified by industry stakeholders as a high priority.  The audit will be implemented over a number of years and identify key issues, gaps and future opportunities for golf facilities.  The audit will be built on through the establishment of local government reference groups, state and regional level facility development plans and identifying ‘at-risk’ clubs and facilities.
