Armstrong Creek is one of the largest strategic planning projects ever undertaken by the City of Greater Geelong. The Armstrong Creek Sports Development Plan investigates and outlines how sport and associated partners can make a positive contribution towards delivering an active and healthy community.

The Armstrong Creek Sports Development Plan takes a strategic approach for the future provision of sport in the Armstrong Creek growth area including recommendations for the establishment and enhancement of sporting activities and opportunities. Its focus is on the right structures, systems and partnerships, not on the provision of infrastructure.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Awarded Parks and Leisure Australia National Award of Excellence for Planning October 2013.
  • The project involved extensive consultation with stakeholders, Council staff, State Sporting Associations , neighbouring LGAs and State Government.
  • The framework can be applied to the growth areas across the municipality and is designed to work in with Councils existing processes and networks.
