AFL Central Victoria Regional Strategy

Completed: 2017

Client: AFL Central Victoria, Netball Victoria & 9 Project Partner LGA’s

AFL Central Victoria, in association with the Commissions’ partner Local Government Authorities (LGA’s), community leagues and netball associations developed the AFL Central Victoria Regional Strategy to ensure an integrated and strategic approach to the provision of football
and netball facilities across the AFL Central Region.

The AFL Central Victoria Regional Strategy provides the principles and strategic framework to support the future development, governance and growth of football and netball throughout the Central Victoria Region. It also provides key regional strategic directions and recommendations, as well as identifying critical priorities and actions for AFL Central Victoria,
AFL Victoria, Netball Victoria, AFL Central Victoria Leagues, Clubs and Netball Associations and project partner LGAs.

The Strategy will result in a coordinated and aligned approach to developing a future program of facility provision that optimises planning policies, resource allocation and facility usage levels and improves financial viability and sustainability. In addition, the Strategy will ensure greater access to higher quality facilities for the region’s current and future residential population, critical as the population changes and participation grows.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Extensive consultation with local, regional and state government, sport and community sectors.
  • An audit of all existing facilities across the region to examine facility conditions and compliance with preferred AFL and Netball Victoria provision.
  • Future facility provision based on projected participation identified and prioritised from community club level to elite pathway facility requirements.
