The G21 Regional Tennis Strategy aims to guide the future provision of tennis infrastructure and the delivery of tennis programs and activities across the G21 Region for the next 10 years. It is the first study of this scale to be conducted in Regional Victoria and has attracted joint funding from the G21 Alliance and its Local Government partners, the Victorian Government (through Sport and Recreation Victoria) and Tennis Australia.
In developing the G21 Regional Tennis Strategy, specific attention and investigation is being balanced between club facility demands and requirements and the programming and development needs of tennis. To ensure this balance can be met, an extensive consultation plan has been developed to engage with all levels of tennis, government and the local community, including separate surveys directed to clubs / centres, tennis coaches, schools and the G21 resident community.
In addition, insideEDGE has piloted its industry leading asset management and auditing software that has captured the current facility location (using GPS and database technology), provision, condition, life-cycle and maintenance requirements of the Region’s 118 tennis facilities. The use of this state-of-the art i-Pad technology has enabled the project team to consistently collect facility data, host it in an accessible database and provide updated and ongoing reporting to state and regional stakeholders.
